SOZO Prayer Ministry

In the context of a safe place, SOZO Prayer Ministries exists to provide personal ministry, healing and deliverance for those who find themselves struggling with personal and life issues. The foundation of this ministry is prayer.

SOZO is a New Testament Greek word that is rich in meaning and includes such words as “safe”, “saved”, “rescue”, “heal”, “restore to health”, and “deliver”.  It forms the basis for the theological word “soteria” out of which we get “soteriology”, the study of the work of Christ in His life, death, resurrection, and ascension.  For ministry purposes we will define SOZO as salvation, healing, and deliverance.

SOZO Prayer & Healing Ministries is primarily a prayer ministry rather than a counseling ministry.  Although we may use some basic counseling and psychological information and method, our strong focus is in listening prayer where the Heavenly Father, Jesus, and the Holy Spirit will guide the prayer sessions and speak to both the prayer minister and the person receiving prayer.

SOZO Prayer Ministry – Monday Nights (7:30-9:00pm)

We are open every Monday from September to June (excluding statutory holiday Mondays), and occasional Mondays in July & August.

We offer an Open Prayer Ministry, meaning that all are welcome. We meet in the Auditorium so there is lots of room for solitary prayer as well as personal ministers are available to pray with you right on the spot, and do some basic personal ministry.  This is a good time to soak in God’s presence with worship music playing in the background. Many people find this prayer time to be very meaningful, and you are encouraged to stay for the full 90 minutes.

We also offer confidential personal ministry by appointment.  While we are not a counseling ministry, as part of our ministry we may use such tools as Personal Ministry Questionnaires, Spiritual Inventory cards, and “Healing of the Generational Family Tree” forms.

Following the Holy Spirit in prayer, we seek to bring:

·         Spiritual Healing in dealing with personal sin, bondages and struggling issues (nothing is too big or too small for God)

·         Inner Healing of emotions and memories which often hold us back or trigger us to react negatively or sinfully in present situations

·         Physical Healing from serious illness or disease and aches and pains

·         Deliverance from the demonic as it affects our lives

As part of an individual’s or family path to healing, you will be encouraged to attend one of Southland’s “Encounter God Retreats” and to join a Cell Group.
