 Update on Fran Duerksen and Prayer Points
As
many of you know, Fran has been struggling again with her health
relating to an infection in the brain caused by a leak of CSF (Cerebrospinal fluid) from her brain.
This has recently again caused an infection in the frontal lobe of her
brain which is very serious, has had a significant effect on her
physical state and is of great concern. Two months of intensive
antibiotic treatments have shrunk the infection but not eliminated it.
A
recent meeting with the neurosurgeon confirmed the decision to move
ahead with major neurosurgery, similar to the surguries Fran had back
in 1997. They will attempt to close the hole with vascular tissue and
while they are in there, they will determine if the infection is still
present and attempt to deal with it directly. This surgery will occur
sometime in March, the date is not yet determined.
We
are asking the church to rise up and rally around Ray and Fran and pray
for this critical situation. We have put together some prayer points
below that will be periodically updated. Also check back here for news
and updates.
Specific prayer request for Fran’s surgery which should be taking place sometime in March:
1. Pray for healing.
2. Pray that all of God's purposes would be accomplished.
3. Prayer for wisdom for the doctors on whether or not to remove the
abscess. Right now the abscess is responding to the antibiotic
treatment.
4. Prayer for the surgery that there will be enough material for the
doctors to be able to plug the sinus so that the abscess cannot
re-occur.
5. Prayer for wisdom for the doctors to know whether or not to
reconstruct the area around her brain to make it stronger as she
doesn’t have the normal amount of protection there. This is an
uncommon surgery so much won’t be known until the surgery is happening.
6. Prayer for a complete recovery! Once the surgery is done she will
need to be on antibiotics for another two weeks and after that complete
her recovery from the surgery.
