What to Expect

IMG_0081It has been said that Southland is a larger church with a friendly, small-town atmosphere.  That just about sums it up! When you arrive at one of our 4 services you will be welcomed by one of our friendly greeters.  The Information Center, located in the main lobby, is the place where you can get more info on what is currently happening in our church and some coupons to the Southland PERK! You will then make your way to our 750-seat auditorium where you will be helped to your seat by another friendly volunteer. Here are some answers to a number commonly asked questions:

Service Times?
Our services are held at the following times; Saturday 4pm and 6pm, Sunday 9am and 11am. All services are identical.

What is the service like?
We believe that our time with God should be a joyful experience and should be culturally current in style and spiritually relevant in substance.  The service style is contemporary with elements that include worship songs, multi-media, a worship choir followed by a Scripture-based message that is told in a creative yet straight-forward way.

Do I have to give an offering during the service?
No, absolutely not. Our regular attendees and members give regularly.  If you are just visiting, feel free to let the offering basket pass by when it comes around.

It seems like a big place.  Is there a map that I can check out?
scc-planSure…just click here for a map of the building.

DSC_7800Coffee?
Just to the left, when you enter through the main doors, you will find the Southland PERK, a warm and inviting place that helps create and build community.  You will be served by smiling volunteers ready to help you connect with others over a good cup of coffee and a piece of cake. On Saturdays come early for a hotdog or a bowl of homemade soup!

book_store_1Books etc.

What should I wear to church?
People generally wear whatever they feel most comfortable in.  We are more interested in you feeling connected and finding a place to meet your spiritual needs than we are interested in what you wear.

Kidzland_info_centreWhat about my kids?
During all 4 of the adult services, children ages 0 to grade 4 are involved in KIDzLAND where they enjoy learning about God through active praise and worship and lively presentations of the Bible. The environment is both SAFE and FUN with a check-in/paging system for your convenience and peace of mind.

For our Middle School Ministries, we have Supercell and Beyond, both with a variety of service times taking place during a variety of service times for your family's convenience. Supercell (grades 5 & 6) is at 4pm or 6pm on Saturdays as well at 9am on Sundays. Beyond (grades 7-9) is held in the chapel on Saturday nights at 4pm and 6pm.
