Questions?
My child has severe allergies – do you take any precautions as a church to protect my child?
While we cannot 100% guarantee that your child will not be exposed to peanuts, eggs, etc., each of our children ministry rooms are allergy-free zones, so the chances of an occurrence are very small. When registering your child, you will be given the opportunity to inform us of any allergies, and instruct us about the potential use of an Epipen, etc. Always feel free to talk to the leaders in our rooms, to ensure that they are ready for anything. We love to intentionally partner and communicate with parents in regards to their children.
What if my child needs me during a service?
Each child is assigned a number and a card is given to the parent with that same number. There are display boards to the right of the stage in both the auditorium and simulcast sanctuaries which will flash the numbers of children that need their parents.
How do you choose volunteers?
Every volunteer in Southland's Children's Ministry has to fill out an application form, submit 3 references, undergo an interview and complete a criminal record check. This process, combined with the design of our building, dramatically decreases the chances that any of our volunteers would harm a child or provide them with anything less than amazing love and care.
Can my child stay in KidzLand for more than one service?
The quick answer is yes, provided that they do not misbehave or spoil the lesson for those who have not yet heard it.
Can I volunteer in the same area as my child?
YES! For nursery & preschool, contact Carolynn Puhach. For K-4, contact Monique Desorcy. They would love to hear from you and can be reached at 326-9020.
Can my child stay with their sibling, even if they’re supposed to go to another area?
We allow this for those who are visiting or fairly new – it certainly can help diminish the “fear factor,” however, over the long term, we believe it is best for your child to be among children of their own age, with age-specific teaching and activities.
How many children attend Southland's Children's Ministry on an average weekend?
Approximately 650, from birth to Grade 4.
